Introduction:
Saint Francis Xavier Secondary School of Keningau (SMSFX), has been in existence since January 1960. This year SMSFX have reached the age of 50 years, and is the oldest school in the district of Keningau.

SMSFX is only about 2.3 acres, the area considered to be the smallest school in the State.
SMSFX only has 15 classrooms, while the number of classes are 25 classes from Form 1 to Form 5. One of the class is in in the room of Self Access Learning Centre (SAL) and one more class in the science laboratory.

The two special rooms had to be sacrificed in order to provide classes for community in Keningau district.
Number of students enrolled in this schools also increased from year to year. Due to the lack of classrooms, the average in each room is 45 people.

In the past 50 years of its existence, SMSFX has produced many respected figures such as politicians, businessmen, contractors, doctors, lawyers, teachers, lecturers and many more.

Although deprived, every year the school continued to show excellent academic performance in Peperiksaan Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination (SPM).
In co-curricular, performance is impressive as well.
